There are a some things that I can always find in my pantry to help me when I need a chocolate fix. Stuff like cocoa, honey, coconut oil… On their own, they’re not super exciting, but with a little creativity I can always combine them with something else I have kicking around and create something pretty tasty when those chocolate cravings strike.

How easy is this - only 4 ingredients! It looks so yummy and gooey, and I LOVE the chocolate-hazelnut combo. Need to try this!

But sometimes, I have things that are just an extra little bit more exciting… Like hazelnuts!  That kind of tends to happen when I’m doing product shots. Since I need to have some sort of incentive not to eat them all as I’m snapping away with the camera, I promise myself that if I save them, I can make something even more delicious. Something with hazelnuts AND chocolate, which brings everything to a whole new level of yum.

This looks AMAZING and super easy! 4 ingredients to make a gooey chocolate hazelnut treat!Although the recipe I’m sharing with you today is super simple, it turns out best if you’re not in a rush since you have to bake it and let it sit. The prep is ridiculously easy, but you you have to hang in there while the magic is happening once it hits the oven. So if you need chocolate NOW, go check out this recipe instead and then come back to this one when you’re all done being hangry!

Here is what you’re going to need:

  • 1/3 cup hazelnut pieces (I had whole hazelnut and just broke them up with a rolling pin. Very therapeutic) You could sub in other nuts instead too, like pecans or almonds.
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 2 Tablespoons honey
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

Preheat oven to 300.

How easy is this - only 4 ingredients! It looks so yummy and gooey, and I LOVE the chocolate-hazelnut combo. Need to try this!In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients.

Line a small, oven safe dish (I used a square 4×4 glass dish) with foil. Spoon the mixture into the dish.

Bake for 20 minutes until nice and bubbly.

If you are patient and let this cool, it will harden into a gooey, a little bit crunchy, toffee-like consistency that is just that much more fun to eat. If you’re not (patience is overrated sometimes!) it will still be delicious – toasty hazelnuts in a sticky chocolaty sauce!

And yes, you can bet that I found a way to get the chocolate and hazelnut flavor combo into one of my lip balms! You can find the Chocolate Hazelnut lip balm in my shop!
